Holding Pool opens with a BIG splash

The Holding Park Pool will open for the 2014 summer season on Saturday, June 14, with a BIG splash.

There will be free admission to the pool from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., free hotdogs while they last, music and tours of the renovated facility.

The town recently completed a $750,000 renovation of the pool, the locker rooms and the restroom.

There is a new epoxy floor on the pool deck designed to reduce slippages and falls while also extending the life of the structure. Other enhancements included new pumps and filters, new tiles and depth markers, a new diving board and slide and new ADA compliant steps. In addition, the pool shell received a fresh coat of paint and assorted leaks were repaired.

In the locker rooms, new lockers were installed as well as new tile flooring, ceiling tiles and LED lighting. There are new stalls, showers and water-saving fixtures as well as a fresh coat of paint.

The restroom next to the concession stand now has tile walls, epoxy flooring, new water-saving fixtures, fresh paint inside and out and a new diaper-changing station.

Located at 133 West Owen Avenue, Holding Park Pool is one of the area’s largest outdoor public swimming pools. Open during the summer months, the 50-meter pool offers swimming to the general public, as well as swim lessons and parent/toddler swim times.
