General Patton grandson to speak Sunday

Robert Patton, the grandson of World War II General George S. Patton and a noted author, will speak about his grandfather Sunday, July 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Museum on North Main Street.

Patton will discuss General Patton’s formative years and how he incorporated history, family myths and legends to create the persona we know today, “Blood and Guts Patton.”

After his presentation, Patton will hold a book signing for his fifth book, “Hell Before Breakfast,” about American war correspondents in the Civil War and wars across Europe and Africa in the 19th Century. He also wrote a book about the Patton family.

Patton’s appearance is in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibit, Wake Forest in World War II.
