Find summer’s bounty at the market

Corn, tomatoes, squash, onions, cucumbers – we are about to have summer’s bounty and you can find it at the Wake Forest Farmers Market Saturday morning. It will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the OneCare parking lot behind CVS. It also doubles as a used-car lot and parking may be limited, so park carefully.

The music this week will be by Dry Bread Road, and Market Manager Robin Hendricks is searching for more local musicians who will perform for tips. Be sure to leave your tip in the tip jar.

Along with the local vegetables from several vendors, shoppers will find eggs, a wide variety of meats – chicken, beef, pork, lamb, goat and rabbit – as well as cheese, honey, knit hats and blankets, fresh-cut flowers, breads and baked goods, including gluten-free baked goods, jewelry, honey, garden art, locally roasted coffee, peacock feathers and jewelry.

The veterans in the VFW tent always have a raffle going or are willing to take your donation for the different groups that help veterans.

The Wake County Master Gardeners know the answers to your tough questions about gardening in red clay and heat, and they will give you a soil test kit so you can learn how best to treat your soil.

See it on Facebook and at www.wakeforestfarmersmarket.org or call 919-671-9269 for information.
