Find fun at the Community Expo

Every year the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors an event that is free and fun where you can also learn more about the businesses and groups in and around Wake Forest, and, at least for many the best part is the free food samples from several local restaurants and caterers.

That is the Community & Business Expo, and it will be held this year in a new location, the Wake Forest Charter Academy at 151 Friendship Chapel Road behind Gateway Commons shopping center. The hours are 3 to 7 p.m.

There will be door prizes given out hourly, and this year there will be fun family activities.

In the family entertainment room, face painting will be provided by RightTime KiDS – Wake Forest. An interactive photo booth will be hosted by Forget-Me-Not Photo Booth. Arts and crafts will be provided by the Wake Forest Woman’s Club. Outside the school, Gaming Unplugged will have their 32-foot mobile gaming trailer, which has five high-definition televisions inside and two outside (weather permitting), the latest in video game consoles and games, and stadium seating for up to 28 people who can play simultaneously. At 6 p.m., a costume contest for kids will be held. Children should assemble in the gym to be judged. The winner will receive a brand-new Xbox, provided by Sam’s Club.

The door prizes include a gas grill provided by Lowe’s Home Improvement, and a framed print provided by Nancy Jo Photography. CenturyLink will provide a mystery technology device as a giveaway.

There also will be food and drinks to sample from local vendors such as Main Street Grille Pizzeria & Restaurant, Simply Crepes, Buffalo Brothers, Real McCoys Restaurant and Chick-fil-A.

“This is a great way to learn about other Wake Forest area businesses in a fun, relaxed environment,” chamber president Marla Akridge said.

CenturyLink is the major sponsor for the event.
