Family movie night returns July 30

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department will offer the next Family Movie Night at Joyner Park on Saturday, July 30, at 8:30 p.m. Joyner Park is located at 701 Harris Road.

Sponsored by Traditions at Wake Forest, Mosquito Joe of Eastern Wake County, and Primrose School of Heritage Wake Forest, the free, monthly outdoor movie series features a variety of family-friendly film favorites and genres, including comedies, dramas, and thrillers, all projected on a 26-foot inflatable movie screen in the park’s amphitheater. The event also includes on-site food vendors selling snacks and refreshments.

Family Movie Nights at Joyner Park are free and open to the public. Anyone planning to attend is urged to arrive early as viewing space may be limited. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or chairs but are reminded that alcohol, smoking, and unleashed pets are prohibited.

Due to the terms and conditions outlined in its agreement with the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation, the PRCR Department is not permitted to publicize the title of each month’s film. However, here’s a hint about the July 30 movie: it’s a 2010 Chinese-American martial arts comedy-drama remake of a 1984 film of the same name.

To obtain the titles of the July 30 movie and future films offered as part of the Family Movie Nights at Joyner Park series, sign up for The Week Ahead via E-Notifier at www.wakeforestnc.gov/enotifier.aspx, download the town’s app, or call 919-556-7063.

The final Family Movie Night at Joyner Park of this season is scheduled for Aug. 13. Showtime is 8:30 p.m.

In the event of rain, Family Movie Night will be moved inside the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St. Updates will be provided on the town’s website and Facebook page and by calling the Wake Forest Weather Line at 919-435-9569. Smart phone users who have downloaded the Town of Wake Forest app will receive a push notification informing them of any schedule changes.
