Faith Cross, a newcomer to town politics, announced her intention to run for a seat on the Wake Forest Town Board where there will be three vacancies in November. Commissioners Chad Sary, Adam Wright and Jim Dyer have served one term. Wright announced a few weeks ago he would seek a second term, and Joe Kimray announced months ago.
“I view this as an opportunity to serve my community,” Cross wrote in her announcement. “The voice of our residents calling for more carefully considered growth needs to be heard. I am committed to listening to our residents. Without careful planning and measured growth, the community will see an inevitable increase in our taxes due to a need for additional essential services (police, fire, EMS) and new schools.”
In addition to carefully considered growth, Faith would also like to focus on increased transparency in our local government, making it easier for residents to access information. “Many residents have also shared they have difficulties in accessing pertinent information about Board of Commissioner past votes and online access to archived meetings,” said Cross
Finally, Cross shared an additional reason she is stepping up to serve her community, “I believe women are not being represented on the Board of Commissioners. Wake Forest has 46,387 residents. 51.4% are women. There is no female representation on the Board of Commissioners. Our perspective is important and will add to the diversity of our Board.”
“I look forward to meeting members of our community to discuss their concerns and respectfully ask for their support.”
Cross has been a registered nurse for 23 years with a background in intensive care, cardiology, geriatrics and home health. She has homeschooled her three children for 11 years. She is active in her church, Richland Creek Community Church.
Cross also recently obtained her real estate license.
