Embrace Uganda 5K race now virtual

Wake Forest’s annual Embrace Uganda 5K race is still on this year, but in a virtual world.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, organizers have switched from a live, in-person race to a virtual, online event set for Saturday, June 13. Sign up at
https://www.embraceuganda.org/EU5K2020. Participants can then run or walk their 5K from anywhere, at any time that day.

Young & Associates will provide official timing for each runner, who will have an opportunity to post times and check overall results at www.EmbraceUganda.com.

Founded in Wake Forest, Embrace Uganda works to provide access to clean water, medical care and education to the orphans of Uganda. This month, a mission team was scheduled to leave for Uganda but that trip has been postponed due to the virus.

“Embrace Uganda will mark the weekend our team was due to leave by holding a virtual 5K to help our partners assist these children in getting the medical attention they need and the education that all children deserve,” said Embrace Uganda board member Thorsten Hamp. “You can make a difference in the lives of so many with your donation or participation in this event. Thank you for helping us make an impact!“

Sponsors are needed for the virtual 5K and get their name and/or company logo displayed on the event banner, T-shirts and website. Sponsor levels are Gold ($500, logo on the website for a year); Silver ($250, logo on the website for six months); and Bronze ($125). Send logo and artwork to webmaster@embraceuganda.org.
