Dementia series ends Thursday

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts is hosting a series of seminars through June to raise awareness about Alzeheimer’s disease and related dementias. Each seminar in the 2019 Dementia Awareness Education Series offers residents the opportunity to learn about dozens of dementia-related programs, services, products and resources – all in one location.

This year’s series concludes Thursday, June 27, at 9 a.m. with Healthy Living for your Brain & Body. We have always known the health of the brain and the body are connected. Now, science can provide insights into how to optimize our physical and cognitive health as we age. Join us to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement and how to incorporate these into a plan for healthy aging. This session will include an extended time to visit with professionals who will share healthy living information and demonstrations on cooking, exercise, emotional well-being, healing arts and more.

The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required at www.wakeforestrencen.org/education/dementia-awareness-education<http://www.wakeforestrencen.org/education/dementia-awareness-education>.

The Renaissance Centre is presenting the series in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina and Wake Forest SING as part of an ongoing effort to establish Wake Forest as a dementia-friendly community.
