Color the market black and blue

Black for blackberries and blue for blueberries, both of which were displayed all over the Wake Forest Farmers Market last week and are sure to be in abundance again this week.

Or you could color the market red and yellow, red for the many, many varieties and shapes of tomatoes and yellow for the sweet corn. Then there are potatoes in hues of red, white and blue. The yellow summer squashes and the green zucchini and green onions. Oh, it is a colorful world – and we have not touched on the watermelons and the cantaloupes.

The market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the OneCare Inc. parking lot behind CVS. It is also a used car lot these days, making parking for the market a bit tricky though no one has sold a shopper’s vehicle yet.

Variety is the watchword for this farmers market where you can find lotus and water lilies for your garden water feature along with hand-crafted wooden furniture, locally roasted coffee, locally produced cheeses, honey courtesy of at least three apiaries, gluten-free baked goods, sweet baked goods and varieties of breads, pasta and sauces, cut flowers, jewelry, knit goods and peacock feathers. And there is always something new each week. Look for it.

See the market on Facebook and at www.wakeforestfarmersmarket.org or call 919-671-9269 for information.
