Below is a list of groups – and if your group is not included and should be – please send a note with the information to cwpelosi@aol.com. If the information about your group is wrong or out of date, please send a note with the corrections to that same email address. Aren’t we lucky to have so many groups that benefit our town and its resident!

*American Legion Post 187 meets the second Thursday at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Hall at 225 East Holding Avenue. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and costs $5. For information and membership, call Commander Dave Goetze at 569-0471 or visit www.alpost187.org.

*The General James Moore Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution meets the third Tuesday but does not meet in June, July and August. Call 919-880-1915 for the location and time.

*The Kiwanis Club of Wake Forest meets at The Forks Cafeteria every Thursday at 12:15 p.m. There are speakers at each meeting except the first meeting of the month, which is devoted to business. *The Wake Forest Camera Club meets the second Tuesday at The Forks Cafeteria with a buffet dinner served on arrival. Call Bernie Hardy at 562-1637.

*The Wake Forest Civitan Club meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday at The Forks Cafeteria. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. The president is Ann Marie Davella who can be reached at 919-410-3192.

*The Wake Forest Garden Club holds its monthly meeting on the second Tuesday (September through May) with a social hour at 9:30 and the regular meeting at 10 a.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Museum on North Main Street. *The Wake Forest Junior Woman’s Club meets at 7 p.m. the second Thursday, September through June, at the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce on South White Street. *The Wake Forest Community Council meets the second Wednesday, September through June, at The Forks Cafeteria. All area clubs and organizations are encouraged to send a representative to the hour-long Dutch-treat informational meeting. Mike Johnson – johnsonmichael5@frontier.com – is the president.

*The Friends of the Wake Forest Public Library is voluntarily dissolving the nonprofit but a skeleton board of Kris Wright, Kenille Baumgardner and Carol Pelosi will oversee the remaining funds until they are all expended on library projects.

*The Wake Forest American Legion Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday (except December and July) in the Legion Hall at 225 East Holding Avenue. For information contact President Debora Godfrey. *The Wake Forest Historical Association’s board meets the first Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Wake Forest College Birthplace on North Main Street but does not meet in June, July and August. Karen Winstead, 919-556-8399, is the president.

*The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee meets the fourth Monday at 7 p.m. at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church on Friendship Chapel Road from August, when planning begins, through January. James Grant is the chairman.

*Cars & Coffee is a free monthly gathering of auto and motorcycle enthusiasts that happens every fourth Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at 940 Gateway Commons Circle.
