Celebrate Mardi Gras in Wake Forest

You do not have to be in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras – a fun-filled, family-friendly event is planned for downtown Wake Forest on Saturday, March 1 – the Wake Forest Mardi Gras Street Festival & Renaissance Ball.

The street festival will feature live music, special performances, face painting and a children’s parade. There will be a King and Queen Costume Contest and other fun activities for all ages. Mardi Gras masks are encouraged throughout the day and evening.

That night’s Renaissance Ball at the town’s new Renaissance Centre will be optional black tie and the right occasion to find all those glad rags, the ball gowns and sequined dresses. It begins at 7 p.m. with a dinner, a cash bar, live entertainment and more. Tickets are on sale now at $60 per person online at www.wakeforestnc.gov/ticket-events.aspx.

All the proceeds from the day’s events will support arts programming at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre.
