*Join your friends and neighbors in historic downtown Wake Forest Friday night, July 10, for Art After Hours when shops and studios remain open until 9 p.m. Music, free horse and carriage rides and lots of receptions.

*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 11, in the Renaissance Plaza in front of the Renaissance Centre. Food, music and farm-fresh meats, vegetables and fruit, all raised within 75 miles.

*The Wake Forest Food Truck Rodeo will be at the Renaissance Plaza on Brooks Street Sunday, July 12, from noon to 4 p.m. See more in the article in this week’s issue.

*The Friends of the Wake Forest Library will hold its annual meeting Wednesday, July 15, at 7 p.m. in the Northern Regional Center on East Holding Avenue. Wake County Library Director Michael Wasilick will speak and new officers will be elected. Everyone is welcome, and there will be refreshments.

*A public reception for new Town Manager Kip Padgett hosted by Mayor Vivian Jones and the Board of Commissioners will be held Tuesday, July 21, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the second floor lobby at Wake Forest Town Hall. Light refreshments will be served. After the event Padgett and the town board will hold their regular monthly meeting.

*The seventh annual Wake Forest Purple Heart Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church. A few tickets are still available.

*The 20th Annual Tour of Artists is planned for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20, in galleries in Wake Forest and artists’ studios in the area.
