*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 23, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.
*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every second and third Saturday and every Monday and Wednesday for food pickup. It serves more than 800 families in Wake Forest, Youngsville, Rolesville and their surrounding areas. Call 919-556-7144 for information about receiving food, volunteering and donations. Friday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. the annual Drive By Fish Fry hosted by the Wake Forest Fire Department at Station #1 at 420 Elm Avenue. Plates of fried flounder, boiled potatoes, coleslaw and hush puppies will be $10 each on the day of the fish fry; pre-ordering by credit or debit card ended April 13.
Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Forest Fest, a new town festival will be held along East Owen Avenue in from of town hall and also in Centennial Plaza and the Town Hall parking lot. There will be the
Wake Forest Guild of Artists Spring Art Market, extended hours by the Wake Forest Farmers Market, and Historic Downtown Walking Tours offered by the Wake Forest Historical Museum. There will also be free tree seedlings given away and information about the town’s Tree City designation.
Sunday, April 24, Six Sundays in Spring returns to E. Carroll Joyner Park with Marcus Anderson as the opening attraction. All performances start at 5:30 p.m. and the lineup includes Big Bang Boom on May 1, Orquesta GarDel on May 8, Blue Cactus on May 15, Liquid Pleasure on May 22, and North Tower Band on May 29.
Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, the Wake Forest Garden Club will host the Wake Forest Garden and Art Tour with hours of 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The $35 tickets include an After Party that starts at 5:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Wake Forest Historical Museum on North Main Street.
Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Meet in the Street will return to South White Street in Wake Forest after a COVID break.
