*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 10 a.m. to noon – winter hours – this Saturday, November 27, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.
*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every second and third Saturday and every Monday and Wednesday for food pickup. It serves more than 800 families in Wake Forest, Youngsville, Rolesville and their surrounding areas. Call 919-556-7144 for information about receiving food, volunteering and donations. *Tuesday, Nov. 23 to Feb. 25, The Giving Fence at Wake Electric office building on North Franklin Street next to Wait Avenue will be a place where area residents can donate hats, gloves, pullovers, scarves, coats for whoever needs something warm this winter. Pullovers and coats in all sizes are needed most of all. Take what you need, leave what you can.
*Friday, Dec. 3, 6 60 8:30 p.m. Lighting of Wake Forest at Centennial Plaza, 301 South Brooks Street. This year’s ceremony will begin with musical performances by local groups followed by the lighting of a 20-foot Christmas tree and Santa’s exciting arrival in a Wake Forest fire truck. Pictures with Santa will be available. This event is presented by Wake Forest Downtown Inc. and sponsored by Holding Village.
*Saturday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s a Wonderful Wake Forest Historic Holiday Festival at the Calvin Jones House and Wake Forest Historical Museum at 414 North Main Street. There will be guided tours of the Calvin Jones House and the historic district on North Main Street, screening of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” musicians and more. The historic district guided tours will require pre-registration, which will become available later this fall.
*Saturday, Dec. 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Holly Jolly Market to benefit the Northern Wake Fire Department at 7045 Stony Hill Road. A holiday craft fair to benefit the fire department formed by the union of the Falls Fire Department and the Stony Hill Fire Department.
*Saturday, Dec. 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Holiday Artisans Market will provide a unique shopping experience with a wide variety of handmade items by regional artisans and crafts people. Presented by ARTS Wake Forest.
*Saturday, Dec. 4, all day Downtown Holiday Open House where a unique array of shops and restaurants offer a hometown shopping experience.
Saturday, Dec. 4, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Loading Dock Wake Forest Launch Party in partnership with the Triangle Pop-Up Market at 525 South White Street.
*Monday, Dec. 6, Wake Forest Community Christmas Dinner, the 74th, will be held at The Forks Cafeteria beginning at 6:30 p.m. Because of the pandemic only half the usual tickets will be available, 150 rather than 300. See a member of the steering committee, Greg Harrington is chairman, or a member of a local civic club.
