*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, March 14, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.

*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every third Saturday and every Monday and Wednesday for food distribution. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *A Light in the Forest, the second annual Wake Forest Film Festival, will be held Friday and Saturday on March 13 and 14.
*After the Move Part II: The factories arrive, a program hosted by the Wake Forest Historical Association about the economic change for the better after Wake Forest College moved to Winston-Salem. The program on Sunday, March 15, will run from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Museum at 414 North Main Street and refreshments will be served.
*The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Family Expo for the second year, and it will take place Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church.
*Tri-Area Ministry will hold a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 26. The ministry is on East Holding Avenue.
*The grand opening of the Northern Wake Senior Center will take place Friday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at the center on East Holding Avenue and Brooks Street. The event is free and will honor the senior citizens who raised money for years to build the original center in 1993.
*The Rise Against Hunger meal-packing event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 28, at the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club on South Wingate Street. See Feeding Wake Forest in this issue for more information.
*Wake Forest STEM Saturday will be a networking fair at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre on Saturday, March 28. Running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. it will expose middle school and high school students and their parents to STEM career options. It is free and sponsored by the Wake Forest Wireless Research Center, Ting, Code Ninjas, Cricket Wireless and Linchpin SEO. It is hosted by the Wake Forest Technical Advisory Board.
*The annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department will take place beginning at 10 a.m. in E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. Please see the article in this week’s issue for all the details.
*The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater returns to the Renaissance Centre on Saturday, April 25, with “Kill the Music.” Tickets are $40 in advance and include dinner. The menu will be announced later.
*Meet in the Street, sponsored by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday, May 2, in downtown Wake Forest. This will be the 40th year of the popular street festival.
*Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser for the Wake Forest Lions Club will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the American Legion building on East Holding Avenue.
*National Trails Day will be celebrated in Wake Forest on Saturday, June 6, when the Greenways Advisory Board will host a family-friendly and a children’s race at E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. See article in this issue for details.
