*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Feb. 29, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.

*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every third Saturday and every Monday and Wednesday for food distribution. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *History after Hours: The paintings of Dr. B.W. Wells Join the members of the B.W. Wells Association from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Wake Forest Historical Museum for a discussion about the paintings of Dr. B.W. Wells. Learn about his unique painting techniques and the significance of the places and people he painted. The permanent exhibits will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. The program and the museum are free.
*The Koinonia Cares Charity Auction and Dinner is planned for Saturday, March 7, at the Wake Forest Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Preview of the auction items begins at 4:30 p.m. that day and the dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person. See article in this issue for more details.
*Comedian and actor Rondell Sheridan will be at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for a performance on Saturday, March 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18. He will present his standup act, “If you’re over 40 and you know it, clap your hands.”
*A Light in the Forest, the second annual Wake Forest Film Festival, will be held Friday and Saturday on March 13 and 14.
*After the Move Part II: The factories arrive, a program hosted by the Wake Forest Historical Association about the economic change for the better after Wake Forest College moved to Winston-Salem. The program on Sunday, March 15, will run from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Museum at 414 North Main Street and refreshments will be served.
*The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Family Expo for the second year, and it will take place Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church.
*The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater returns to the Renaissance Centre on Saturday, April 25, with “Kill the Music.” Tickets are $40 in advance and include dinner. The menu will be announced later.
*Meet in the Street, sponsored by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday, May 2, in downtown Wake Forest. This will be the 40th year of the popular street festival.
*Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser for the Wake Forest Lions Club will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the American Legion building on East Holding Avenue.
*National Trails Day will be celebrated in Wake Forest on Saturday, June 6, when the Greenways Advisory Board will host a family-friendly and a children’s race at E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. See article in this issue for details.
