*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Feb. 1, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.

*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 10 am. to 1 p.m. a.m. every third Saturday and every Monday and Wednesday for food distribution. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *Solo & Savvy, Responding to the challenges of aging alone, will be the first program offered in the newly renovated Northern Wake Senior Center on East Holding Avenue. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. but go early to admire the new furniture and spaces at the center.
*Bright Star Theater will present George Washington Carver & Friends as part of Black History Month on Saturday, Feb. 8. The morning show at 11 a.m. will be held at the Alston-Massenburg Center, and the evening show will be at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
