*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday, July 20, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.

*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 9 to 11 a.m. every third Saturday along with its regular hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for food distribution. It serves about 700 families in Wake Forest, Youngsville, Rolesville and their surrounding areas. Call 919-556-7144 for information about receiving food, volunteering and donations. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *Game Night at the Alston-Massenburg Center offers fun every first Friday through Aug. 2. From 6 to 8 p.m. adults 21 and older are invited to go to the center to play different card games, spades, bid whist and more.
*A Home Ownership session hosted by Wake Habitat for Humanity will be held at the
Wake County Northern Regional, 350 East Holding Avenue, Wake Forest on Thursday, July 18, from 5 to 8 p.m.
During the session, Habitat Wake’s Homeownership and Neighborhood Programs team will discuss its affordable home ownership program and explain how families can pre-qualify. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out about the program next steps, and will have an opportunity to apply on-site.
*There will be a Community Day & Food Pantry Outreach sponsored by the Kingdom Family International Church at 231 Capcom Avenue, Suite 124, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. Church members will offer nonperishable food items, the Wellness Ministry Team will be available to promote a healthy lifestyle, professional blood pressure reading and prayer, if needed.

*The 11th annual Wake Forest Purple Heart Banquet will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Richland Creek Community Church. It is open to all veterans, military families and the public.
