*The Wake Forest Farmers Market has moved to the town employees’ parking lot on Taylor Street behind town hall. The market will be open this Saturday, July 21, from 8 a.m. to noon, and local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday.

*Monday Night Bingo at The Factory is hosted by the Wake Forest Kiwanis Club in the Mill Room from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Monday night. All profits support the club’s projects for children. Visit www.wakeforestbingo.com for more information.

*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 9 to 11 a.m. every third Saturday along with its regular hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for food distribution. It serves about 700 families in Wake Forest, Youngsville, Rolesville and their surrounding areas. Call 919-556-7144 for information about receiving food, volunteering and donations. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. Hope House is at 334 North Allen Road. For more information, call Norma Bennekin at 919-263-1007.

*Friday Night on White will continue through September with street concerts on Aug. 10 with Big Love, and Crush on stage for Sept. 14. The events run from 6 to 9 p.m.

*The Cotton Company will host the comedy showcase, 100% Comedy, in its event space Friday, July 20, at 8:30 p.m. See article in this issue for more information.

*Neck of the Woods, a variety performance series, will return to the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre at 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, with performances by several local artists. See article in this issue for more information.

*Family Movie Nights at Joyner Park will continue through August. The July 28 movie will be Cars 3; the Aug. 11 movie will be Beauty & the Beast. The outdoor movies are free, and people are urged to arrive early because viewing space may be limited.

*The 2018-2019 Wake Forest Temporary Sculpture Exhibit and Spotlight on Artists Exhibit will be formally opened by the Wake Forest Public Art Commission Saturday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Renaissance Centre Arts Annex at 407 Brooks Street. *The tenth annual Wake Forest Purple Heart Banquet will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church. Order tickets online at www.WakeForestPurpleHeartFoundation.org orinfo@WakeForestPurpleHeartFoundation.org.

*The Wake Forest Home & Garden Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11 and 12, at the Renaissance Centre on Brooks Street. The hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. See article in this issue for more details.

*Faster than a Pastor, a 5K race hosted by Woodland Baptist Church to raise money for the Tri- Area Ministry Food Pantry and the ChurchNet Foundation. Those organizations help community people with food and help with utility costs and prescription drugs. It will be run Saturday, Sept. 8. The entry fee of $25 before Aug. 9, $30 after, includes a T-shirt. Go to www.fasterthanapastor.com for complete information.

*Good Neighbor Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. It is a free event to bring together neighbors from all over town to enjoy games, music, food and fellowship.

*The Wall that Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be displayed in Wake Forest for four days in October, Oct. 18 through 21, in E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. The Wake Forest Purple Heart Foundation is the sponsor. The wall and the museum will be open for 24 hours each day for the four days. A lot of volunteers will be needed as will donations.
