*The Wake Forest Farmers Market has moved to the town employees’ parking lot on Taylor Street behind town hall. The market will be open this Saturday, June 23, from 8 a.m. to noon, and local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday.

*Monday Night Bingo at The Factory is hosted by the Wake Forest Kiwanis Club in the Mill Room from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Monday night. All profits support the club’s projects for children. Visit www.wakeforestbingo.com for more information.

*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 9 to 11 a.m. every third Saturday along with its regular hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for food distribution. It serves about 700 families in Wake Forest, Youngsville, Rolesville and their surrounding areas. Call 919-556-7144 for information about receiving food, volunteering and donations. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *Picture 80 acres, a planning exercise for all Wake Forest residents, began on Monday, June 18, and will continue on Thursday, June 21, 6:30 p.m., Richland Creek Community Church; Saturday, June 23, 11 a.m., Wake Forest Town Hall; and Tuesday, June 26, 6:30 p.m., Hope Lutheran Church. People can offer their ideas of the best outdoor recreation activities on an 80-acre site near four schools and several subdivisions. For more information, see article in this issue.

*Juneteenth Freedom Walk will take place Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. Join the walk at the Alston-Massenburg Center on North Taylor Street. See article in this issue for more details.

*An Evening with Marcus Anderson will happen Friday, June 29, in the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre with two opportunities to see and hear the jazz legend who opened the Renaissance Centre. See more in the article in this issue.

*Occupy the Stage, a project of the Women’s Theatre Festival and the Renaissance Centre, will take place over the 24 hours between 7 p.m. Saturday, June 30, and 7 p.m. Sunday, July 1. For all the details please see the article in this issue.

*The Wake Forest July 4th Celebration will stretch over two days and everything is free. The Town of Wake Forest will sponsor the stadium show and fireworks display on Tuesday, July 3, in the stadium at Heritage High School, and the all-volunteer Fourth of July Committee will be in charge of the children’s parade and fun activities in Holding Park immediately after the parade. In this its 45th year, the celebration is presented by PowerSecure.

*The tenth annual Wake Forest Purple Heart Banquet will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church. Order tickets online at www.WakeForestPurpleHeartFoundation.org or email at

*The Wall that Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be displayed in Wake Forest for four days in October, Oct. 18 through 21, in E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. The Wake Forest Purple Heart Foundation is the sponsor. The wall and the museum will be open for 24 hours each day for the four days. A lot of volunteers will be needed as will donations.
