*The state Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting about the proposed replacement of the Ligon Mill Road bridge over Smith Creek on Tuesday, March 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road.
*The Cougar Walk of Champions celebrating and honoring the Wake Forest High School Football Cougar win of the 4AA state championship will be held on Saturday, March 25, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Depot Parking Lot and proceeding to Wake Forest Town Hall. The entire community is invited.
*Immediately after the Cougar Walk of Champions, the Trentini Foundation will host a Trentini Reunion at the Wake Forest Baptist Church’s Stephenson Center on Wake Union Church Road. Former board members, foundation supporters and members of the Wake Forest High School Bulldogs football team are invited.
*The Senior Lifestyle Expo will be held Tuesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. There will be more than 50 booths, informative speakers, demonstrations and performances, health screening, refreshments and giveaways. Entrance is free.
*The first 2017 Wake Forest Memorial Flag-Raising will take place Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. and will honor Sgt. James Steffins. The ceremony will be held in Centennial Plaza on Brooks Street in front of the Wake Forest Town Hall.
*Wake Up Wake Forest will feature Planning Director Chip Russell with a presentation, Managing Growth in Wake Forest, at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, in the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre on Brooks Street. It is the second in a series of morning information seminars sponsored by the Town of Wake Forest and the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $10 and include breakfast. *On Saturday, April 8, the annual Easter Egg Hunt will draw children of all ages to E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road for a series of egg hunts by children in four age groups. It is presented by Primrose School and hosted by the town’s parks and rec department. Please see article in this issue for details.
*The Trentini Foundation annual banquet where the scholarship winners are announced will be held on Saturday, April 22, at The Forks Cafeteria. The time has not been decided yet because that is the same night as a prom at Wake Forest High School. The organizers want all the students to be able to attend both events.
*The first Friday Night on White this year will be Friday, April 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. The rest of the series will be on May 12, June 9, July 14, Aug. 11 and Sept. 8. The Town of Wake Forest is now accepting applications for food trucks for the events. Last year Friday Night on White drew between 5,000 and 10,000 people to downtown.
*The Wake Forest Garden Club’s Mad Hatter Tea Party and Garden Tour will be held Saturday, May 13, at the Wake Forest Historical Museum. The always popular tea party will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the garden and art tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the tea are $20 and for the garden and art tour $15.
