*Sarah Shook & the Disarmers will be the next performers in the music series Rockin’ the Forest. They will appear at the Renaissance Centre on Friday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 and available on line or at the Renaissance Centre. See article in this week’s issue for more details.
*Wake Forest Mardi Gras Street Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on South White Street will feature a walking parade, children’s activities and contests for people of all ages on Saturday, Feb. 25. It is free and geared toward families. Start making a mask now.
*A Night of Comedy sponsored by Wake Forest Rotary Club and the Wake Forest High School Band Boosters will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre. Tickets are $30 each, available at The Cotton Company and NC General Store or from members of the two groups. The proceeds will be shared by the Rotary Club and the Band Boosters.
*The Cougar Walk of Champions celebrating and honoring the Wake Forest High School Football Cougar win of the 4AA state championship will be held on Saturday, March 25, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Depot Parking Lot and proceeding to Wake Forest Town Hall. The entire community is invited. More details will be provided soon.
*The Senior Lifestyle Expo will be held Tuesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. There will be more than 50 booths, informative speakers, demonstrations and performances, health screening, refreshments and giveaways. Entrance is free.
*The first Friday Night on White this year will be Friday, April 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. The rest of the series will be on May 12, June 9, July 14, Aug. 11 and Sept. 8. The Town of Wake Forest is now accepting applications for food trucks for the events. Last year Friday Night on White drew between 5,000 and 10,000 people to downtown.
*The Wake Forest Garden Club’s Mad Hatter Tea Party and Garden Tour will be held Saturday, May 13, at the Wake Forest Historical Museum. The always popular tea party will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the garden and art tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the tea are $20 and for the garden and art tour $15.
