*The annual Arbor Day Celebration & Tree Seedling Giveaway will take place Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in E. Carroll Joyner Park with lots of tree and nature activities.
*The annual Easter Egg Hunts – there are several for different age groups – will be held at E. Carroll Joyner Park on Saturday, March 19, beginning at 10 a.m. Like all the events sponsored by the town’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Departments, it is free and open to everyone.
*Who knew that dirt could win an award? Wake Forest’s Dirt Day was judged the best new street festival in North Carolina towns recently. You can enjoy it all, from digging for sharks teeth to learning the best new gardening techniques on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along historic South White Street.
*The Wake Forest Memorial Flag-Raising Ceremony will resume Monday, April 4, at 11 a.m. in Centennial Plaza on Brooks Street.
*Friday Night on White, a free monthly music series in downtown Wake Forest, will begin Friday, April 8, featuring the Magic Pipers Band. Adults will be able to purchase beer and wine and carry the beverages on designated streets, there will be food trucks, and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort while listening to the band. The fun goes on from 6 to 9 p.m.
*A Senior Lifestyle Expo hosted by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and Carillon Senior Living will be held Tuesday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road.
*Shred it on Friday, April 15, when free shredding services will be available at the parking lot for the Renaissance Centre for the Arts parking lot between noon and 7 p.m.
*Enjoy lunch and Midday Music at Miller, a chance to unwind during a busy day during May in Miller Park along Franklin Street. It is free and plans are to have food trucks or other food facility available.
*Meet in the Street, Wake Forest’s popular spring street festival, will take over downtown streets on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
*The annual Wake Forest Cemetery Tour will take place Saturday, May 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is free to all comers interested in the history and the people in the town cemetery on North White Street.
*The Mad Hatters Tea Party & Art Market, the Wake Forest Garden Club’s major fundraising activity, will be held Saturday, May 14, at the Wake Forest Historical Museum, 414 North Main Street. Shop the market or buy tickets for the tea and garden seminars.
*This is definitely a ways away, but dog and pet lovers will want to mark their calendars for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, when the fourth annual Dirty Dogs Pet Extravaganza will take place in E. Carroll Joyner Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. One of the events will be the Ultimate Air Dogs competition and show. More later.
