Cafe opens, bookstore moving

Between January and April a number of new businesses received permits from the town of Wake Forest and other existing businesses changed their locations.

There were a number of changes along South White Street in the historic downtown area. Sugar Magnolia Café opened at 219 South White in the former Olde English Tearoom space and is now serving espresso, coffee, tea, wine, beer, baked goods, sandwiches, and salad.

At 145 South White Street, both Details Bridal Gallery, which had to move across the street and upstairs recently because of a leaky roof, and The Robin’s Nest, a boutique, share the space or perhaps one is moving out.

Page 158 Books has moved temporarily from its South White first home to 317 East Roosevelt Avenue, the former home of Lulu’s Antiques. David and Suzanne Lucey are renovating the former classic cars showroom and store in the Renaissance Plaza as the permanent home for their popular bookstore.

There will soon be or already are some new restaurants in town. Jersey Mike’s is in the Wake Forest Crossing shopping center, and Buku, an offshoot of the Raleigh restaurant, plans to open on Heritage Links Drive next to Wine and Beer 101. Cold Stone Creamery is open in the shopping center on Forestville Road anchored by Publix along with I Love Juice.
