Builders pulled permits for 72 new homes in January

Clearly we should not worry about a slump in new housing; builders pulled permits for 50 new single-family homes and 22 townhouses in January.

The 22 townhouses will be built by the following: Capitol City Homes will build 10 townhouses on Etteinne Garden Lane in Tryon subdivision; M/I Homes will build five townhouses along Winter Meadow Drive in Traditions; and Lennar Carolinas will build seven townhouses on Traditions Grande Boulevard in Traditions. Together the builders paid $49,820.26 in fees for construction that should add $3,756,884 to the tax base.

There were also two permits pulled by Poythress Commercial Contractors for two commercial shell buildings on the future site of Heritage Corner, a small strip mall at 1898 and 1894 South Franklin Street next to Rogers Road across from Sheetz. Poythress paid $32,856.86 in fees for the buildings that will add $1,170,000 and $955,000 to the tax base.

Inspectors approved two fit-ups and four pre-occupancy permits. The fit-ups were for Neuse Industrial Park at 4909 Unicon Drive, Suite 200 and Speech Therapy Solutions at 616 Dr. Calvin Jones Highway (NC 98 Bypass), Suite 108-212. The pre-occupancy were for On the Move Moving Company at 5100 Unicon Drive, Suite 105-106; Capital Fabrics Inc. at 12267 Capital Boulevard; Carolina Clean Pressure Washing at 1423 Wait Avenue, Suite 304D; and Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids at 1040 Forestville Road, Suite 140.
