Brief Bits

The Gorham family of Wake Forest is still not recovered from their injuries at the N.C. State Fair because a ride, the Vortex, continued to operate while they were trying to leave their seats. If you want to help them with their still growing medical bills, the online fundraiser Give 2 The Gorhams, is at http://bit.ly/fairfunds.

Remember the cold days of January and February are often times when the food pantry at Tri-Area Ministry is close to empty. Send a check to P.O. Box 1394, Wake Forest, NC 27588 or go by the ministry at 149 East Holding Avenue with a donation of food or money.

Peter Kima with the Wake Forest Kiwanis Club sent the following invitation to a special meeting of the club on Feb. 20 at 7:30 a.m. in The Forks Cafeteria.

“Our own Wake Forest resident, Tom Henderson, will be sharing his incredible story of the camp he and his wife began in Romania to make a difference in the lives of children stricken with hemophilia.

“They raise incredible amounts of money, travel there yearly to put on a camp, and provide medicine that is not readily available. This will be a special presentation.

“In addition, the club will be kicking off the 2014 campaign by making a donation of $2,000! Kiwanis International has also been behind the camp as have Kiwanis Clubs from other parts of the world!

“This is a great example of a local couple making a difference in the lives of children not only here is Wake Forest but half way across the world as well.

“We welcome your visit to join us always but especially on this morning.

“Please RSVP to me at Peter@PeterKima.com.”
