Brief Bits

Mark your calendars for the grand opening and open house at the Wake Forest Fire Department’s Station #4 and the christening of new Engine #4 at the just-completed station on Jenkins Road. It is planned for Sunday, April 3, at 3 p.m.  and there will be light refreshments.

The station will provide fire protection, medical first responder, and both emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens and businesses of its district.

People living along Durham Road, particularly in the 300 and 400 blocks, can expect to hear blasting and associated excavation this week and for the next two weeks as Park Construction, the contractor for the City of Raleigh, works on the Richland Creek sewer project.

There will be warnings. First a five-minute warning, a series of long horn blasts followed by a one-minute warning, short short blasts with short pauses, and finally an all-clear signal, a prolonged horn blast after the explosion is inspected. The sewer replacement project should be completed in April.
