Are you a supporter of the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation? If so, you might want to go to a local benefit concert for the group. It will be held Sunday, March 8, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Pour House Music Hall at 224 South Blount Street in Raleigh. The featured musicians are James Olin Oden, Hank Smith and Shawn, Michael Rank, Hey Brothers and Hank Sinatra. There will be raffles and local food. For those grandparents, aunts and uncles who are serving as parents, there will be a meeting of Kinship in Action – formerly Relatives as Parents – at the Northern Regional Center in Wake Forest on Thursday, March 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The topic will be “Financially Squeezed?” by Dr. Joe Paradise of Triangle Family Services.

Cup Runneth Over, a new local running group organized by Wake Forest foot center Sole Dimensions, will meet to kick off its season on Thursday, March 12, 6:30 p.m., at Wakefield Wine Cellar, 13600 New Falls of Neuse Road.

The group gives local runners the opportunity to meet weekly for an evening of running and socializing. Participants can choose to walk or run a three- or five-mile route on the nearby Neuse River Trail.

Door prizes, free gourmet macaroni and cheese, sponsors’ swag and drink specials will be available for those attending the kick-off event. Participants who attend 10 Thursday night Cup Runneth Over runs will receive a free tech T-shirt.

“There are no fees or previous running experience required to participate,” says Certified Pedorthist Ellie Penner, Sole Dimensions owner and operator. “Whether you’re just beginning to run or training for your next marathon, join us on Thursday evenings for encouragement, camaraderie, speakers and other fun activities,” she adds.
