Two programs to provide meals for Wake Forest children are underway at the Northern Regional Center and the Alston-Massenburg Center. Emoke Anderson with the Norther Community Food Security Team says, “We are feeding a lot more children and the food quality is better. On average we serve a little more than 100 children per week per site,” which means 200 children are getting a good meal every weekday this summer.
Also, Anderson said, “The Northern Regional Center partnered with Melanie Floyd, Community volunteer, who is a big advocate for composting. She picks up the food waste every day the NRC distributes food and drops it at her garden’s composting bin.”
Would you like to be a part of this meals program? Anderson wrote: “Volunteers who would like to join the NRC team can contact me: Em Anderson at emoke.anderson@wakegov.com . To volunteer at the Alston Massenburg site, people can contact: Joy Shillingsburg at joyshill@yahoo.com.
