I have a habit of checking the Southeast High Speed Rail website occasionally, and I have good news for those who do not like the disruptions planned for Wake Forest. Or I think it is good news.
First, there are no news releases about high speed rail through from Raleigh to Richmond or any other route
Second, it is not possible to find the study maps which showed the different segments in great detail.
Third, there is no information about funding except to say that state and federal funding would be necessary to build the system.
Fourth, all the information in the website is about a year old.
The conclusion has to be that high speed rail through Wake Forest is no longer viewed as a current possibility, and everyone who has worked on it in the state Department of Transportation has been assigned other duties.
