Hope House on North Allen Road will hold a Book Bag Giveaway & Fun Day on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Along with the book bag and school supplies giveaway, there will be a clothing giveaway, food, fun, and games for the children. Children must be present to receive book bag. For more information, contact Norma Bennekin at 919-263-1007.

Tri-Area Ministry serves about 700 local families, providing them with groceries once a month at no charge, but donations have slowed and the shelves at the building at 149 East Holding Avenue are nearly empty.
Tri-Area needs food items such as canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, and pop-top cans like Chef Boyardee Ravioli – foods kids can open themselves while they are out of school for the summer or home on the weekend. Please take your food donations to the ministry or, for more information, email Leslie DuBois. Donations may also be dropped off at Lowe’s Foods on Capital Boulevard near the check-out registers and also in the vestibule at St. Catherine’s of Sienna Church, located on West Holding Avenue.
