Charlie Eugene Pennell

Charlie Eugene Pennell, 64, of Wake Forest passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, in Raleigh. He was born October 6, 1953 in Raleigh, a son of the late Charlie and Melba (Hodge) Pennell.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 26, 2018, at Woodland Baptist Church with the Reverend Tito Madrazo officiating.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis Pennell; his children, Jamie Pennell Carroll and her husband, Brian, of Swansoboro and Chadwick Eugene Pennell and his wife, Ashley, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Amber Williams, Brandon Williams, Davis Carroll, Chloe Carroll, all of Swansboro and Kendell Pennell, Christopher Pennell, and Austyn Pennell, all of Wake Forest; his siblings, Gerald Pennell and wife, Oleta, of Winnabow and Shirley Harvey of Zebulon; three great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Baptist Church building fund.

Anne Marie Grassi Pierce

Middlesex

Anne Marie Grassi Pierce, 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Rex Hospital. She was born in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of the late Frances M. Lupo Esposito and John Peter Esposito. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Anthony Grassi Jr., and a son, Michael Anthony Grassi.

A viewing was held Friday evening, March 23, 2018, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. A viewing was held at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home in  Mamaroneck, New York on Monday, March 26, 2018, with the burial in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.

Anne is survived by her husband, Bruce Alan Pierce; a son, John Henry Grassi and wife, Beth o,f Middlesex; a daughter; Lisa Anne Vinson and husband, Robert, of Youngsville; cousins, Ellen Castalel of Yorktown Heights, New York, Janet Masci of New York and Daniel of White Plains, New York; an aunt, Ray Esposito of White Plains; a sister-in-law, Lee Esposito of Wappingers Falls, New York; a niece, Kelley Anne Esposito of Hyde Park, New York; and a nephew, John Esposito of Wappingers Falls.

Scott E. Holovic

Raleigh

Scott E. Holovic, 47, of Raleigh passed away March 22, 2018 in Raleigh. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, a son of the late John Holovic Jr. and Betty Blanchard Holovic.
Scott worked for Rex Hospital in Raleigh, and was an active member of Richland Creek Community Church. He enjoyed fishing with his father and friends, cooking and spending time with his friends. Scott attended the Word of Life Fellowship in New York, loved the Lord and will be remembered for his kind spirit, giving heart and his beautiful soul.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Richland Creek Community Church. Interment will follow at Wake Memorial Park in Cary.
Along with his parents, Scott was predeceased by a sister, Teresa Holovic O’Conner.
He leaves behind his sister, Cathi Holovic Richards of West Virginia; his brother, Daniel Holovic and Valeska Schrader of West Virginia; his nieces, Jessica Richards of West Virginia and and Corinne O’Conner; and dear friend Robert Porter and his wife, Ashley, and their children, Katie and Jacob, who were like a niece and a nephew to him.

Friends can visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Richland Creek Community Church before the service.

Bettie Lucas Langley

Bettie Lucas Langley, 103, died on March 19, 2018 at Sunnybrook Rehab and Nursing Center in Raleigh. She was born on January 25, 1915 to the late Robert and Cornelius Harris Lucas of Wake County.
The funeral was held Sunday, March 25, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Corinth UCC in Youngsville. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Tayla Larue Bizzell

Rolesville

Tayla Larue Bizzell, 14, of 403 Roncro Court, Rolesville, died on Sunday, March 18, 2018, in the UNC Pediatric Intensive Care Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill. She was born on January 3, 2004 in Wake County to Terry Bizzell and Franshaun McCray.

Tayla attended Fox Road Elementary School in Raleigh, Wake Forest Middle School in Wake Forest and most recently Rolesville Middle School in Rolesville.

She is survived by her mother, Franshaun McCray (Ocassio); father, Terry Bizzell (Cassandra); six sisters, Charity Bizzell, Jazmine Arnold, Koree Perry, Tierra Blackston, Shon Bradberry and Tiquanna Bradberry; a brother, Tae Batts; grandparents, Mattie McCray, Vanessa Thomas, Linda Perry, Tiny Alshamy, Maurice McCray, Samuel Bizzell and Bill Wilson; great-grandparents, Mary Taylor, Hedy McCrae, Mary Thomas, Charles Kitrell, Robert McCray, Ira Thomas Sr. and Roy Bizzell; three uncles; two nieces; two nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held Monday, March 19, 2018, in the Feggins & Feggins Chapel in Wake Forest and burial was in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
