Need to buttonhole a mayor, a commissioner, or perhaps some of the state legislators? The best way to do it this winter is to attend the Elected Officials Reception Thursday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 a.m. And you can do it while enjoying some good food.
Chamber President Ann Welton says that all the Wake Forest officials and most of the officials from Youngsville, Rolesville and Franklin County, about 30 in all, will be on hand. “Plus, our NC State delegation will all be there: Chris Malone, Joe Johns, John Alexander and Chad Barefoot.
“There will be no speeches, just one-on-one visits with officials and chamber members.”

This month’s Business After Hours will be at UNC Rex Healthcare in Wakefield from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. The light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided by Cannon Catering.
Door prizes include two second row tickets to the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, March 4, a Carolina Hurricanes jersey and a round of golf for four, including carts, at TPC Wakefield Plantation.

This month the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee meeting is open to everyone and will feature a presentation on the State of Wake County. Wake County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Jessica Holmes is the guest speaker. The meeting will be held Tuesday, February 27, from 8:30 – 10:00 am in the Wake Electric Community Room, 100 S. Franklin Street, Wake Forest. This is a free event, but registration is required. Please register online.

The Senior Lifestyle Expo will be held at Richland Creek Community Church in Wake Forest on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s event will include 75 booth displays, food samples, door prizes and giveaways and more. Call the chamber or go to the website to learn how to become an exhibitor. There are a few booths left.
Being an exhibitor is a great way to build your name recognition, develop sales opportunities and grow your database. The event is geared toward both seniors and their adult children who are, or will eventually be, their caregivers.

Vendors can now apply for the 38th Meet in the Street arts and crafts festival which will be held in downtown Wake Forest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5. There are four types of applications based on the vendor participating: handmade arts/crafts, non-profit, food and downtown Wake Forest merchant. Others may qualify as a sponsor.
