*Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *The Listening Room is a new monthly music series featuring local and regional musicians. Find it at the Sugar Magnolia Café, 219 South White Street, on Friday, Nov. 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m. when David Dyer and the Crooked Smile Band will entertain.
*Mistletoe Market, the seventh annual holiday fair and fundraiser for the Wakefield High School PTSA, will be held at the school Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with over 190 vendors and several food trucks.
*Wreaths Across America Sale on Veterans Day. From 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, members of the General James Moore Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will sell wreaths for the national Wreaths Across America Day in coordination with wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and locations across the nation and abroad.

*The Pancake Breakfast at the American Legion Hall in East Holding Avenue is held the second Sunday of each month so it is on Nov. 12 this month from 8 a.m. to noon. The proceeds from this event are used to serve local veterans and their family. For just $5 per person it is all you care to eat — pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice. *Turkey Drive Drop-Off is Saturday, Nov. 18, when from 9 a.m. to noon when members of the Wake Forest Police Department will be at the main station, 225 South Taylor Street, to accept donations of frozen turkeys, checks and gift cards to purchase more turkeys. The turkeys will be distributed to disadvantaged families on Monday, Nov. 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. or as long as the supply lasts.
*Native Americans in America and Europeans Among the Cherokee is the topic when William Anderson, professor emeritus of history at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, speaks at a meeting of the General James Moore Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution on Tuesday, Nov. 21, beginning at 2 p.m. The meeting will be in the Wake Forest Historical Museum, 414 North Main Street, and the public is invited.
