*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is now open from 9 to 11 a.m. every third Saturday along with its regular hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for food distribution. *Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *There will be an Expansion Celebration from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Wake Forest Public Library on East Holding Avenue and everyone is invited to have some refreshments and say good-by to the small library that opened in 1996. Construction of the expanded library will begin this fall.
*The Wake Forest Concerts in the Park series will end on Sunday, Sept. 3, when The Piney Woods Boys entertain with a tribute to Doc Watson from 5 to 7 p.m. in the amphitheater at E. Carroll Joyner Park. The concerts are free; bring a blanket or a chair.
*Music at Midday will return Thursday, Sept. 7, from noon to 1 p.m. in Centennial Plaza in front of the Wake Forest Town Hall. The music series will continue each week through Sept. 28.
*Friday Night on White will end the 2017 season on Friday, Sept, 8, with Crush as the featured band.

*The seminar series Wake Up Wake Forest at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, will feature Joe Milazzo, executive director of the Regional Transportation Alliance, speaking about transit’s impact on the business community. The $10 ticket includes breakfast.
*California Suite by Neil Simon will be presented by the Forest Moon Theater in the Renaissance Centre over two weekends, Sept. 15-17 and Sept. 22-24. Tickets are $15 adult, $13 student/senior in advance; $18 adult and $16 student/senior at the door.
*The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Expo will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. Admission is free as are the food samples and all the information about the exhibiting businesses and organizations.
*The Rolesville Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the eighth annual BBQ and Bands Saturday, Sept. 16, from 11 am. to 6 p.m. at the Rolesville ball fields on Redford Place Drive. Admission is free; bring a lawn chair and enjoy.
*Good Neighbor Day, sponsored by the Wake Forest Human Relations Council, will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park. The event features fun, food and fellowship, and all town residents are invited.
*The Irish music festival, Feis in the Forest, will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 10 p.m. along Taylor Street behind the Wake Forest Town Hall. For more information, go to raleighirishfestival.com.
*Wake Forest’s annual CROP Hunger Walk, the 38th, will be held this year on Sunday, Sept. 24, beginning at 2 p.m. Of the money raised b the 1.5-mile walk through the North Main Street Historic District, 25 percent will go to Tri-Area Ministry here and 75 percent will go to provide programs in the United States and around the world to fight poverty and provide disaster relief.
*Wake Forest Dance Festival, the Triangle’s first outdoor dance festival, is planned for Sept. 30, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. Free and family-friendly, the inaugural event will feature national and regional professional dancers, as well as local rising advanced performers.
*The Tri-Creek Greenway Crawl will celebrate the opening of 3.7 miles of new trails in the Wake Forest greenway system on Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 1 p.m. at the trailhead near Foundation Drive next to Heritage High School on Forestville Road. The new sections are on the Smith, Sanford and Dunn Creek greenways.
*The 25th annual Golf Outing sponsored by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce will tee off Monday, Oct. 2, at Hasentree Golf Club. The event is limited to 120 golfers. Call the chamber staff to reserve your foursome.
