David William Weiler

David William Weiler, 79, entered the Greater Life Thursday, August 3, 2017, at home. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York. Mr. Weiler was married to his beloved wife, Mary Christine Weiler, for 55 years.
He shared his talent, intellect, and expertise as a chemical engineer in many facets over the span of his forty-year career. A man who ever thought outside the box, he encouraged all who knew him to do the same, and loved the ensuing discussions!
Funeral services will be held at half past eleven in the morning, Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Wakeminster Baptist Church at 13221 Old Creedmoor Road, Raleigh. The Rev. Merle T. Martin will be officiating in the celebration of a life well lived.
Mr. Weiler is survived by his deeply cherished daughters and their much loved families, Jennifer Allen and husband, Greg, of Raleigh; Beth Humphrey and husband, Chip, of Powhatian, Virginia.; grandchildren, Kayley Morgan Humphrey, CJ Humphrey, Noah David Allen, William Gleason Allen; sisters, Ann Weiler Perkins and husband, David, of Boston, Massachusetts and Mary Margaret Weiler of Wilson, New York.

Lottie Belle Tippett Dixon Larson

Lottie Belle Tippett Dixon Larson died Friday morning, August 4, 2017. She was a long-time resident of Wake Forest.
Lottie was born on May 25, 1922 in Granville County. Her parents were Charles and Katie Wynne Tippett. Lottie married Milton Ray Dixon on March 31, 1945 in Louisburg. Two children were born of their marriage, Phillip Ray Dixon Sr., and Gregory Wayne Dixon Sr. Lottie was subsequently married to Ralph Waite and James L. Larson Jr. Lottie spent most of her life in Wake Forest when Wake Forest College was located there, but also lived in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Charlotte before returning home.
She received training as a commercial artist at the Washington, D.C., School of Art and worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Corning Glassware, managed several mobile home parks, and upon her retirement, was a certified daycare operator which she operated out of her home. Lottie’s refrigerator and freezer were covered with pictures of children and children of children whom she kept in her home and whom she loved dearly. She was also a foster parent. Lottie was the favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews born to her brother, Henry Tippett, and his wife, Margaret, and her sister, Vassie Finch, and her husband, Joe. Lottie also maintained a close relationship with members of her first husband’s family continuing to reside in Wake Forest. She was always the “life of the party.” Lottie was a great dancer (she was one of the first people who learned how to “twist”). She chaperoned her oldest son’s junior/senior prom and was known by many of his friends as a “very cool” mom.
Lottie is survived by her two sons, Phil Dixon Sr. (Mamie) and Greg W. Dixon,Sr. (Beth); grandchildren, Greg Dixon Jr. (Danielle), Tiffany McPherson (Clint), Sarah Larsen, Taylor Zundel (Jordan), Phil Dixon Jr. (Betty), David Dixon and Scott Dixon (Katie); great-grandchildren, Phillip III, Blake, Hope, Tristan, Faith and Cameron; and numerous nieces and nephews who surrounded her with love in her declining years.
Thanks to Zebulon Rehabilitation Center and Hillside Nursing and Rehab Center in Wake Forest for their exceptional care. Hers was a life “well lived.” She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, August 12, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

Anne Freda, 66, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, following a brief illness. Anne was born June 24, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York to the late William and Edna Walton. Anne worked as a court stenographer for the Long Island Railroad as well as in the corporate travel department for American Express and GST Corporation. She enjoyed fishing, cruising and the Caribbean.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Arthur A. Freda; a daughter, Kristen Marie Lamb; a granddaughter, Briana Elizabeth Lamb; and a brother, Bill Walton.

Robert “Bobby” Edward Kennedy-Richter, a resident of Cary, passed away after a sudden illness which began at his family’s cottage in Port Hope, Michigan on July 24, 2017 at the age of 38.
A memorial service for Bobby was held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Emma.
In addition to his wife, Minoka Richter, Bobby is survived by their children, Connor, Katherine, and Lucy; his parents, Ann and Andy Richter; brother, Christopher Richter and his wife April; nephew, Samuel; and niece, Charlotte; as well as extended family and many friends.

Robert “Bob” Nelson Hovey

Robert “Bob” Nelson Hovey, 87, of Wake Forest passed away on August 4, 2017. Bob was born December 5, 1929, in Clarkson, New York to the late Clayton Hovey and Hazel Carter Hovey. At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Navy and later married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Helen Margaret Kerman. They were married for 53 years prior to her passing in 2003.
Bob worked as a tool and die supervisor for General Electric/Black and Decker in Brockport, New York and Asheboro for 41 years. After retiring, Bob and Helen resided in Conway, South Carolins, Charlotte, and Wake Forest. Bob enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, boating, golfing, playing guitar, singing, dancing, and traveling around the world. He loved his Carolina Panthers. He was always the life of the party.
Bob is survived by (and “responsible for” …as he used to enjoy saying) his son, Bob Hovey and his wife,, Dail, of Jacksonville, Florida, and his three daughters, Dianne Whiteheart and her husband, Ace, of Charlotte, Karen Davis and her husband, Larry, of Wake Forest, and Carol Bray and her husband, Randy, of Asheboro. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jamie Staggs, Kristyne Forbes, Dustin Bray, Adam Bray, Clayton Whiteheart, Mandie McKenzie, Katie Rhoads, and Bob Hovey, Jr. and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition, Bob is survived by his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Knuth and her husband, Harvey, of Bend, Oregon, and Elizabeth Kerman. Last but not least, his little sweetie pie, “Harley,” his faithful dog.
The Hovey family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful ladies of “Seniors Helping Seniors” and Kathy Uveges for the loving care they provided our Dad over the past year, and to Mari and Britta for their special friendships.
A private family celebration of Bob’s life will be held in the near future.

John Roger Barnes

John Roger Barnes, 49, of Raleigh, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home.
John Barnes enlisted into the Marine Corps in 1987, where he would spend the next 13 years. It was there that John excelled and grew. His professional resume of accomplishments and recognition are both numerous and impressive, and as a wartime veteran John amassed significant awards and commendations for his efforts.
John built on his momentum of success, establishing for himself a career outside the Corps where he was widely sought for his talents. John had a passion for personal fitness and muscle cars. From an early age, John began to take an interest in sports and in particular boxing. Most recently he and his fiancé,’ Jody, had been involved in weight lifting which in turn allowed him to help others he met achieve their goals through nutrition and fitness.
He had a natural charisma that people he had never met before would follow. He was kind, sincere and the most loyal of Marine brothers that surrounded him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his fiancé, Jody Lynn Wilson; daughter, Sydney Blaine Barnes of Raleigh; mother and step-father, Connie Miller Vaughan and Deloy Vaughan of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; sister, Beverly Barnes Richards and husband, Leon, of Hardesty, Oklahoma; special friends, Mike Rasmussen of Washington, D.C., Avery J. Curran of Athens, Georgia, Rusty Eaton of Norfolk, Virginia, Isaac Valdez of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Mark Snow of Newport Beach, California, Steve Riddle of Moore, Oklahoma, and Trent Shatswell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and numerous friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Barnes.
