*Hope House Weekly Food Pantry distributes food at 1 p.m. every Thursday. Hope House volunteers pick up the food from the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina and the house typically has vegetables, fruits, salad packages and breads but sometimes does have meat, eggs, fruit juice and milk. *The first of two free Concerts in the Park will be Sunday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring Diali Cissokho and Austin McCall. The second will be at the same time on Sunday, Sept. 3 featuring The Piney Woods Boys with a tribute to Doc Watson. Both are in the amphitheater at E. Carroll Joyner Park. *Love Tribe will be the featured band for Friday Night on White on Aug. 11. Join the fun from 6 to 9 p.m. in Wake Forest’s historic downtown.
*Loose on the Neuse, the annual cleanup of the northern portion of the Neuse River, will be held Sunday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a party with music, fly fishing lessons, games, food trucks and local beer. *The dementia series continues on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 9:30 a.m. with a program about effective communication strategies. Admission at the Renaissance Centre is free, but pre-registration is required. The series is presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina.
*The seminar series Wake Up Wake Forest at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, will feature Joe Milazzo, executive director of the Regional Transportation Alliance, speaking about transit’s impact on the business community. The $10 ticket includes breakfast.
*The second annual Wake Forest Home Garden Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12 and 13, at the Renaissance Centre on Brooks Street featuring over 40 local experts in home improvement projects, services and features. Visitors will also be able to purchase local art, handmade décor and various home products.
*There will be an Expansion Celebration from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Wake Forest Public Library on East Holding Avenue and everyone is invited to have some refreshments and say good-by to the small library that opened in 1996. Construction of the expanded library will begin this fall.
*Friday Night on White will end the 2017 season with Crush as the featured band.
*FNOW After Party sponsored by White Street Brewing Company will run from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at the Renaissance Center with the Magic Pipers Band entertaining. Tickets are $5; food and drink will be available for purchase. Call the Renaissance Centre to purchase tickets.

*The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Expo will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. Admission is free as are the food samples and all the information about the exhibiting businesses and organizations.
*The Rolesville Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the eighth annual BBQ and Bands Saturday, Sept. 16, from 11 am. to 6 p.m. Admission is free; bring a lawn chair and enjoy. The location will be announced later.
*Good Neighbor Day, sponsored by the Wake Forest Human Relations Council, will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park. The event features fun, food and fellowship, and all town residents are invited.
*Wake Forest Dance Festival, the Triangle’s first outdoor dance festival, is planned for Sept. 30, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park on Harris Road. Free and family-friendly, the inaugural event will feature national and regional professional dancers, as well as local rising advanced performers.
*The 25th annual Golf Outing sponsored by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce will tee off Monday, Oct. 2, at Hasentree Golf Club. The event is limited to 120 golfers. Call the chamber staff to reserve your foursome.
