Below are multiple street closure notices scheduled in Wake Forest over the next several days. Please use the information below to help plan your route and move safely through these closure areas. All Wake Forest Traffic Alerts are provided online at www.wakeforestnc.gov/traffic-alerts.aspx.
Please note: Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from taking place as scheduled. When this occurs, Town staff work directly with contractors and crews to reschedule the work as quickly as possible to minimize impacts to the traveling public.
Pedestrians walking near work zone areas should be alert, cautious and allow extra travelling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distances.

Traffic Alert – South Main Street/US 1A
Weather permitting, Wake Forest Power will close the portion of South Main Street from Elm Avenue to South Avenue on Thursday, June 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 pm. The temporary road closure is necessary to allow Wake Forest Power tree trimming crews to trim tree limbs and branches around overhead power lines.
Detour signs and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists around the work area. Motorists traveling north along South Main will be diverted right onto Elm, left onto South White Street, then left onto East Roosevelt Avenue. Motorists traveling south along South Avenue will be diverted left onto East Roosevelt, right onto South White and right onto Elm.
Delays are expected, so drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route if possible. In the event the work is not completed Thursday, it will resume on Friday, June 9.
Wake Forest Power works to minimize storm impacts year-round through preventive maintenance, including trimming of trees around Wake Forest’s 140 miles of overhead electric distribution lines. Downed trees and limbs are the leading cause of power outages during storms.

Traffic Alert – Durham Road/NC 98
Drivers should expect delays along Durham Road/NC 98 in the vicinity of the Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass intersection Thursday, June 8, through Friday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Civil Contractors, Inc., a private contractor working at the future site of the Crenshaw Corners Food Lion, will close a portion of the southernmost eastbound lane of Durham Road/NC 98 extending 500-feet east of the Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass.
The temporary lane closure is necessary to allow crews to tie in to the storm drain.

Traffic Alert – North Taylor Street
Drivers may experience periodic delays Friday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. along the 400 block of North Taylor Street in the vicinity of the Alston-Massenburg Center, 416 N. Taylor Street.
Hollins Construction Services Inc. will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic a portion of Taylor Street in order to pave the road.
Delays are expected, so drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route if possible.

Traffic Alert – Oak Grove Church Road
Duke Lazzara Development will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic a portion of Oak Grove Church Road from Averette Road to Rusted Oaks Road Friday, June 9, through Thursday, June 29. The lane reductions are scheduled on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The lane reductions are necessary to allow crews to widen the road.

Traffic Alert – South Main Street/US 1A
The City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department (CORPUD) will close a portion of the 600 block of South Main Street from 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 12. CORPUD will then close a portion of the 700 block of South Main from 8 p.m. Monday, June 12, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 13.
The overnight lane closures are necessary to allow crews to replace sewer service in the area.
On June 11-12, motorists traveling north along South Main will be diverted right onto East Holding Avenue, left onto Elm Avenue and right onto South Main.
On June 12-13, motorists traveling north along South Main will be diverted left onto West Holding Avenue, right onto Tyler Run Drive, then right on Durham Road.
Delays are expected, so motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible and take an alternate route.

Crenshaw Corners Food Lion?!? I thought this was going to be a Lafayette Village type development based on what I had read earlier. What will become of the current Food Lion?
