Wake Forest builders got off to a big start for 2017, pulling permits for 76 new homes – 49 single-family houses and 27 townhouses – plus the Town of Wake Forest received a permit for the first sprayground which will be built in the Taylor Street Park by Hollins Construction, which has its headquarters on Rogers Road in Wake Forest.
The sprayground is a joint project of the tow and Wake County with the county administering the contracts and construction. Thomas Covington, the facilities project manager with the county’s department of facilities design and construction office, said the construction should be complete by the beginning of summer. He also said that even though “they have not done a sprayground to my knowledge, they are very familiar with the concrete work and utility work associated with the projects, and have partnered with Vortex, the supplier and manufacturer of the sprayground equiment. Vortex will do the install of the actual sprayground fixtures and controls.”
We got some new businesses in January. The Wake Forest Inspections Department approved fit-ups for Chronic Taco at 1000 Forestville Road and Quilt Lizzy at 1223 Hampton Way as well as inspecting for pre-occupancy for Yudichak CPA at 1772 Heritage Center Drive, Tech2 Resources also at 1772 Heritage Center Drive and Metro PCS at 1221 Capital Boulevard.
Capital City Homes will build six townhouses on Grandmaster Way in the Bishops Grant subdivision. The subdivisions where three other townhouse projects will be built is not known because Wake Forest Planning Director Chip Russell is short four planners and is trying to handle all the residential questions and projects. Also, the Wake County Revenue Department website has not been updated with the following street names. Terramor Homes will build eight townhouses along Plaza Way; DR Horton will build seven townhouses along New Creek Way; and Dan Ryan Builders will construct six townhouses on Sweet Annie Way. Together the builders paid $137,568.50 in fees and will add $3,415,011 in improvement value to the tax base.
