*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be held in Renaissance Plaza on Brooks Street Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. See its Facebook page for vendors.

*Monday Night Bingo at The Factory is hosted by the Wake Forest Kiwanis Club in the Mill Room from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Monday night. All profits support the club’s projects for children. Visit www.wakeforestbingo.com for more information.

*Storytelling Pajama Night featuring Rags to Riches Theatre will be held Friday, Dec. 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It is part of the Wake Forest Renaissance Center’s Arts for All free community performance series supported by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County.

*The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church on Friendship Chapel Road with a fellowship dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m.

*The Wake Forest Town Board will hold its annual planning retreat in the Patterson Building on the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (the Renaissance Centre is undergoing renovations) on Friday, Jan. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is welcome. Please advise Town Clerk Deeda Harris if you plan to attend.

*On Friday, Jan. 27, Sing-WF will present a program about how seniors can be financially defrauded and how to prevent it. The meeting from 8:45 to 10 a.m. will be held in the Wake Electric Community Room at 100 South Franklin Street. Parking is in the rear as is the entrance to the room. The meeting is free but registration is required. Send your request to info@sing-wf.com.

*State of the Town Address and Dinner will be held Monday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre on Brooks Street. All area residents are invited to attend. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the night of the event. Tickets are available for cash, check or credit card at the Renaissance Centre box office.

*Sarah Shook & the Disarmers will be the next performers in the music series Rockin’ the Forest. They will appear at the Renaissance Centre on Friday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 and available on line or at the Renaissance Centre. See article in this week’s issue for more details.

*Wake Forest Mardi Gras Street Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on South White Street will feature a walking parade, children’s activities and contests for people of all ages on Saturday, Feb. 25. It is free and geared toward families. Start making a mask now.

*The Senior Lifestyle Expo will be held Tuesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. There will be more than 50 booths, informative speakers, demonstrations and performances, health screening, refreshments and giveaways. Entrance is free.
