Mick Mason Macholl

Wake Forest

Mick Mason Macholl, tenderly known as Mickey, was born on April 6, 2011 and passed away on December 13, 2016 after a grueling one-and-a-half-year battle against neuroblastoma cancer. Mickey was the youngest and the heart of his family of five; a pudgy, happy, funny little baby and toddler with red rosy cheeks, thick wavy brown hair, and the bluest, most angelic eyes full of joy.

Mickey’s funeral mass was celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest. Father Philip Tighe officiated. Burial followed in Wake Forest Cemetery.

Mickey leaves behind his father, Mark; his mother, Rachel; his best friends and brothers, Trey and Tyce; paternal grandparents, Fred and Sharon Macholl; maternal grandparents, Peggy and Carl Williams, Jim and Dianne Eagan; several aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, who have grown into family, and his self-proclaimed 82 girlfriends. Of these, Mickey loved his “night nurse girlfriend,” Colleen Warren, his “college girlfriend,” Zoe Gantz, and his “future wife,” Sarah Sticklin, the most.

Mickey loved break dancing and playing with his brothers, going to the drive-in movies, family vacations to Myrtle Beach, his UNC tennis bros, going to preschool, Marvel & DC Super Heroes, Power Rangers, “Smoothies” from Mommy, “Boys Night” with Daddy, girls, his stuffed animal kitten, Michael, and his blanket.

Even though he never made it to his first highly anticipated day of kindergarten, Mickey accomplished more than most adults. He was officially drafted onto the UNC Men’s Tennis Team this past October, (even though he has been a member of the team family for over a year). He positively impacted all with whom he came into contact, and he united thousands in prayer throughout the nation and abroad. There is no doubt that Mickey is enjoying a pain-free childhood in Jesus’s loving arms in Heaven now. Please pray for God to mend the broken hearts of all who loved him, and we encourage you to carry on his memory by striving to live as honest and good as our little boy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mickey’s name may be made to Fight Like PAXTON, 13124 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27614 http://www.fightlikepaxton.com
