Dorothy (Dottie) W. Duguid

Wake Forest

Dorothy (Dottie) W. Duguid, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 18, 2016 in Wake Forest. She was born in 1933, at home, in Mystic, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Frederick and Charlotte (Brooks) Whittle. She was predeceased in 1998 by her husband of 43 years, Vern Duguid, and recently by her sister, Elizabeth Hill, and brother, Robert Whittle.

She is survived by her six children; Diane (David) Kallstrom, Donna (David) Mordini, John (Kathleen) Duguid, James (Mandy) Duguid, Linda (Patrick) Quinn, and Robert (Stephanie) Duguid; seven grandchildren, Brent Kallstrom, Sarah Duguid, Zachary Duguid, Sarah Faith Duguid, Alyssa Duguid,  Nicole Quinn and Ryan Quinn; two sisters, Cecelia Basque of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and Carol Pratt of Mystic, Connecticut; and two brothers, William Whittle of Mystic, Connecticut, and Richard Whittle of Groton, Connecticut.

In her youth, she was a hardworking daughter on the family farm in Mystic. Her youngest siblings fondly remember the bedtime stories she would make up for them about the “bear in an airplane” which would always leave them in gales of laughter.

Dottie was the devoted and loving wife to her late husband of 43 years. They were married on November 5, 1955. She dedicated her life to her husband and raising their six children. She was the rock of the family. Her home was always bright, clean, and inviting with enticing aromas coming from the kitchen, whether it was baked homemade cookies, pies, or spaghetti and meatballs on the stove. She was always doing something whether it was in the yard, mowing, or planting flowers where her gardens flourished with colors, or the many loads of laundry six children contributed to each day. She always wanted to look her best, even if it was going to the landfill in Scituate, Massachusetts, where she would put on lipstick and fix her hair. She would laugh and say, “I don’t go anywhere without my lipstick.”

Beautiful, devoted, caring and patient, and yet she fondly would call everyone else “Beauty.”

Judith (Jody) Monroe, 79, beloved wife, mother, teacher and mentor to numerous young people, passed away in her sleep early in the morning of November 17, 2016 after a long illness.

Jody was born in Yonkers, New York, on December 23, 1936. Rafael Segundo Paz

Sept. 16, 1935 – Nov. 23, 2016

Raleigh

Rafael Segundo Paz, 81, of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday evening, November 23, 2016, at his home. He was born in Venezuela to the late Rafael Segundo Barros and Dorila Paz.

Rafael Paz was a godly man who lived his life experiencing the best and worst of what it had to offer. Mr. Paz has taught important values and lessons to his children which he enforced through the years as a strict parent using love as his main tool. He always said “whatever you have is not yours, it belongs to those in need”. As a native Indian in his land, he was saved and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior despite Indian traditions and culture. Mr. Paz was a good man who loved his family. Now in heaven, he is smiling and has no limitations, no pain, and no sorrow. We will love him always and still live to make him proud.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church, 249 Holden Road in Youngsville. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.

Mrs. Paz is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tully Tomey; children, Brenda Paz and husband, Oswaldo, of Raleigh, Brineldy Percy and husband, Jeffery, of Wake Forest, Bilmer Paz and wife, Shirley, of Raleigh and Vanessa Paz and husband, Hans, of Franklinton; brother, Potocho Paz of Venezuela; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A service of Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, 1051 Durham Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587. (919-556-7400).
