Margaret Osborne Pridgen

Charlottesville, Virginia

Margaret Osborne Pridgen, 77, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Margaret loved her grandchildren, cooking, wildflowers, and blue grass music.

She was on the board of the B. W. Wells Association in Wake Forest and active in the Native Plant Society of Virginia. Her brownies and persimmon pudding were always in demand.

She is survived by her son, Joe; daughter-in-law, Ellen; grandsons, Alexander and Aaron Osborne of Charlottesville; sister, Sally Whittaker (Walt) of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Ed (Sue) of Wake Forest; nieces, Elizabeth and Caroline Osborne; and nephews, Dennis and David Whittaker. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Fredrick E. Osborne and Martha Helen Rich Osborne; and her husband, Joseph Earl Pridgen.

During her time in Charlottesville she worked at the Schoolhouse Thrift Shop and as a teaching assistant at the Early Childhood Development Center. The love and support that she received from her church family and Woods’ Edge Apartment Community were invaluable.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 22, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, Charlottesville. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to the B. W. Wells Association, Inc., P.O. Box 1901, Wake Forest, NC 27588 (www.bwwells.org).

John Harrison McCord

Wake Forest

John Harrison McCord, 20, of Wake Forest passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016. He was born in Wake County on January 6, 1996, and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martha and Kenneth McCord, William E. Bingaman, Dr. James K. and Dorothy Ferrell.

A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

John is survived by his mother and step-father; Lisa Beth and John K. Ferrell; his father, David Kent McCord; his siblings, David Kenneth McCord, Daniel Ira McCord, Joshua Thomas McCord, Leah Noel Ferrell and John Pahl Ferrell; and his grandmother, Thelma Noretta Bingaman.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979 or to WRAP at P.O. Box 271, Wake Forest, NC 27588 for the theater arts program at Wake Forest High School.

Maybeline ‘Tootsie’Jordan Marshall

Wake Forest and Greenville

Maybeline “Tootsie” Jordan Marshall, 75, of Greenville, formerly of Wake Forest, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016, in Stanfield. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Clifford Jordan and Maebelle O’Daniel Jordan.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 20, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Wake Forest Cemetery.

Mrs. Marshall is survived by her husband, Proctor Marshall; children, Jennifer Dickinson, Lisa Ann Marshall and Glenda Faye Mancia, all of Stanfield, JoAnne Baker of Four Oaks; sisters, Doris Cooley of Youngsville, Peggy Jenkins and Mary Frances Ross, both of Wake Forest, and Marie Jordan of Kinston; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chris Angeles, Joshua Rollins, Jamie Lewis, Jason Faulk, Greg Bratton, and Lawrence Marshall.

 James Walter Finch

Wake Forest

James Walter Finch, 82, of Wake Forest went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2016. James was born April 23, 1933, in Franklin County, the son of the late H.P. Finch and Madge Rosalyn Burgess Finch, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as an accountant after 30-plus years from Warren Distributing Corp. in Raleigh. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Bobby and Perry Finch, and two sisters, Jean Walton and Joyce Harris.

Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, February 21, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Vassar officiating. Burial was in Wake Forest Cemetery.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mae Florence Ferguson Finch of Wake Forest; two sons, Kenny Finch of Orlando, Florida, and Greg Finch of Franklinton; two grandchildren, Jamie and Hannah Finch; and a sister, Shirley Tippett and husband, William, of Louisburg.
