CROP Walk fights hunger

You can help fight hunger and poverty locally and around the world by participating in Wake Forest’s 36th annual CROP Hunger Walk this Sunday, Nov. 15. A quarter of the money raised here and all the donated  food will go to the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry.

The walk begins and ends at the Wake Forest Historical Museum, 414 North Main Street, and is about 1.5 miles long on sidewalks that include a view of the beautiful historic homes and part of the seminary campus. Sign in at 2 p.m. and start the walk at 2:30 p.m. Volunteers will provide water for the walkers.

Anyone may participate. Register online at www.cropwalkonline.org/wakeforestnc. You can walk or make a donation to support a walker who has already registered.

Before and after the walk, visit the table where you can write notes of encouragement to members of the local households that receive one grocery bag filled with food once a month from Tri-Area Ministry. Visit another table to write Ministry to Military notes of encouragement to deployed soldiers. Bring along a camera to take “Helpie” photos of yourself and others in front of a pyramid of boxes and cans of food that will grow taller as you and other walkers and teams drop off the contributions.
