Everyone in town will have several chances to hear from the five candidates, beginning with the Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the second floor meeting room in Wake Forest Town Hall and sponsored by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Wake Forest.
The questions will be posed by members of the chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.
The event is free and is open to everyone. Seats will be filled on a first-come basis. If you cannot attend the forum you can watch it live at hone on Channel 10, Wake Forest TV 10, or the town’s website, www.wakeforestnc.gov.
Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, the unedited forum will be rebroadcast daily on WFTV 10 at noon and 6 p.m. through Election Day. The 2015 Board of Commissioners Candidates’ Forum is the only forum for board of commissioners to be aired this year on WFTV 10.
Two nights later, on Thursday, Oct. 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. a meet and greet will be held in the Knightdale Town Hall at 950 Steeple Square Court for the Wake Forest candidates and those from Knightdale, Rolesville, Wendell and Zebulon. There will be voter registration available beginning at 6 p.m. that night. However, new voters will not be eligible to vote in these elections because the registration period will close Oct. 9. The sponsors are Delta Sigma Theta Sorority chapters, Wake League of Women Voters, WakeUP Wake County, and El Pueblo.
Make sure you are registered to vote in this important election; check your voter registration with the Board of Elections at www.wakegov.com. If you are not registered, the deadline to do so for the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 9.
Registration is easy. You can do it online at www.wakegov.com, or at any library, the Wake County Board of Elections office in Raleigh, any public high school or college admissions office, and at any state Department of Motor Vehicles office, any department of social services or public health, vocational rehabilitation office, services for the blind and the deaf and hard of hearing, mental health, or the Employment Security Commission.
There have been problems with different state offices not filing the registration forms so the safest way is either online or at the Board of Elections office. While on line with the Board of Elections you can also check on voting absentee, where your polling place is and other election information.
There is no early voting in town for the Wake Forest election.
