Enrique Rafael Rosal

Enrique Rafael Rosal, 87, of Franklinton passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, in his home with his second wife, Bonnie Rosal.
He had five step-children, Sandra Perrin, Michelle Cross and husband, Brian, Lisa Payne and husband, Terry, Kimberly Walch and husband, Jonathon, and Brian Player. He had seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. He loved all the grandchildren very much and loved to watch them play and laugh. He enjoyed the fun things in life, and was always kind, loving, caring, understanding and friendly to everyone. He never had an enemy. He loved fishing trips and eating especially. He was a very good cook, and we loved his chimichangas and lasagne! He has traveled to different places such as Hawaii, Bahamas, Canada, Mexico and back to his homeland in Guatemala.
He is survived by his daughters, Marcia L. Rosal and Carmen Tao Rosal Maynard; his brother, Fito Rosal and his wife, Amada; their three daughters, Fabiola, Maria Luisa, and Susie and their families.
Enrique was born and raised with two brothers in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. He emigrated to the U.S. after he received a scholarship to attend college in Lakeland, Florida, where he met his wife, Ellie, and settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to raise his first family. He received degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Dartmouth College in chemical and nuclear engineering and worked most of his career with Westinghouse. Late in his career, he worked as a research physicist at Pennsylvania State University.

David Michael Campbell
Raleigh
David Michael Campbell, 43, of Raleigh passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. David was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2014. He endured several rounds of chemotherapy, but the cancer was too aggressive. It spread to his liver, lymph system, and in the past few weeks has spread to his brain. He spent the last few weeks of his life being cared for by the amazing staff at Transitions Life House in Raleigh where they kept him as comfortable as possible during the last weeks of his life.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
David is survived by his sons, Tyler Campbell, Alex Campbell and Josh Campbell.

Robert Dale ‘Bob’ Bush

Robert Dale “Bob” Bush 75, of Wake Forest passed away Friday, September 5, 2015.
Bob was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School in Detroit, Michigan.
He earned his degree in early childhood education from Aurora College in Illinois. He grew up in Michigan and lived in Chicago for 25 years, where he met and married Marlene. They moved to Southern California and lived there 26 years before settling in Wake Forest in 2009.
Bob’s first job was as a caddy at Oakland Hills Country Club in Detroit. He worked for a time in an assembly line at Ford Motor Company and later paid his way through college working for the railroad. After college, he taught elementary school for a few years before changing professions and falling in love with sales.
He worked for Folgers Coffee before taking a job with a division of GAF, selling printing products. That division was bought and became Anitec Image Corporation, which was later purchased by International Paper Company. As the company grew, so did Bob’s career. He moved through levels of sales management up to national sales director, eventually becoming senior director of Anitec Image Corporation, in charge of U.S. Operations. He made the list of International Paper’s 100 Most Valuable Employees.
Outside of work, Bob was a man of wide-ranging interests. He never met a sport he didn’t love, was an avid golfer and a Chicago Bears fan. He was captain of his high school and college football and basketball teams, and president of the Men’s Club at Mountain View Country Club in California for over 10 years.
Bob loved music, from classical to barbershop, reggae to country. He had a beautiful voice, and was a baritone soloist in high School and college, later singing in church choirs. He was an outstanding whistler. He loved opera, theatre, touring art museums, and travelling with his wife as much as attending a ball game.
He was an extremely intelligent man, with a razor-sharp wit, a terrific sense of humor, and a deep sense of loyalty and integrity. He loved to entertain a room and he did a terrific “Godfather” impression. Through his cleverness and ability to sieze a moment, he spent a few months as a “Man on the Street Spokesman” for Shell Oil – a stint that paid for a country club membership and down payment on a house!
He loved his family, he loved his friends, and he cherished his wife. He celebrated people and the diversity of people and ideas. He believed every day was a gift, to be lived and enjoyed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, September 12, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wake Forest Cemetery.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene Bush; children, David Alan Bush and wife, Debra, of Las Vegas, Theresa Erling and husband, Justin, of Durham, and Shane Bush and wife, Christina, of Jeannette, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Derek, Brody, Jeremias, Josephine, Alex, and Aiden; siblings, Marilyn Chrisman of Michigan, Larry Ferguson of California, and Darlene Noordam of Nevada.

Elmo DeVon Parrish

Elmo DeVon Parrish, 77, of Wake Forest passed away on September 3, 2015, in Wake Forest. He was born on July 1, 1938, in Smithfield, the son of the late Ruby and Robert Parrish and grew up in Fuquay-Varina.
DeVon graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School in 1957. After high school, he served in the National Guard for four years and went on to attend Hardbarger Business College. He worked as an insurance adjuster for Travelers Insurance Company for over 30 years before retiring in 1998.
Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Terry Ashe officiating. Burial was in the Falls Community Cemetery.
DeVon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sallie Watson Parrish; sons, Shayne Parrish and wife, Cathy, of Wake Forest and Ty Parrish and wife, Christy, of Charlotte; grandchildren, Alex, Allison, and Bailey Parrish, Taylor and Ethan Parrish, and Anna Sheridan; and sister, Joann McLeod.

Thomas ‘Tom’ M. Durand

Tom died on August 31, 2015, at his place of business as he was locking up his store, the victim of a senseless act of violence.
Tom was born January 5, 1951, the son of the late Alfred and Myra Epperly Durand. He was raised on the home farm in Herrickville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School and Penn State.
After traveling and working in the hotel, restaurant, and auto sales industries for a number of years throughout the USA, Tom found his life’s work by opening his own successful pawn shop, Mr. Pawn in Raleigh. There he met and married Mary McKibben and together they had three daughters, Stephanie Durand (Fiancé, Zack Thomas) of Raleigh, NC, Laura Durand of Wilmington and Elizabeth Durand of the home. In addition to the above, Tom is survived by his brother, John Durand (Donna) of Byron, New York; sister Marilyn Nicosia (Salvatore) of Athens, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, September 5, 2015 at Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Stephanie Willis Fuller, 67, of Wake Forest passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Henry Clay Willis and Naomi Arrington Willis, and was a member of Wake Forest United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2015, at Wake Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Helen Champion officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, Wade Fuller; daughter, Kristen Tharpe of Youngsville; brother, William H. “Buddy” Willis and wife, Kathy, of Wake Forest; and grandson, Logan Tharpe.

Gary Wayne Burnett, 58, of Wendell passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, at his home. Gary was very proud that he was born and raised in Raleigh. He enjoyed good cigars and was an avid NASCAR fan and fisherman. He always looked forward to a fishing trip to the Core Banks each October with co-workers from ABX and was a great cook. Gary was loved and admired by his family, friends and co-workers. He loved his family and especially his best buddy, Jack.

Gary is survived by his wife, Dee Anne Burnett; sons, Samuel Aubrey Burnett of Raleigh and Jay Conrad Burnett of Wendell; his father, Walter Burnett of Raleigh; his loyal dog, Jack; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Burnett; his sister, Carol B. Bielawski; and by his grandparents, Hazel and Walter Burnett Sr.

Thomas B. Dees

Thomas B. Dees, 89, of Wake Forest passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Franklin Manor in Youngsville. He was born in Bell County, Texas, the son of the late Annie Gibson Dees and Benjamin Franklin Dees. Mr. Dees was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Greenland. He was a retired journeyman plumber.
A funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock Sunday morning, September 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
Mr. Dees is survived by his wife, Virginia Dees whom he had been with for 57 years; a son, Dan Bowen and wife, Evelyn, of Benson; daughters, Beverly Oke of Porter, Indiana, and Donna Brown of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece.
The family would like to thank Elder Billy Ray Anderson for all of his help and kindness that he has shown to the family during this time.

Gracie Pearson Macon

Gracie Alice Pearson Macon, 96, of Wake Forest passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Wake Medical Center. Gracie was born in Wake County on September 11, 1918, the daughter of the late John William and Lillie Wall Pearson. She graduated from Rolesville High School and married James Maxwell Macon on December 4, 1937.
Gracie enjoyed serving the Lord, gardening, cooking (a wonderful cook) and farming with her husband. She loved her family, her neighbors, friends and the Lord. Growing flowers and vegetables gave her much pleasure. As she became older, bird watching and seeing animals on the farm brought her much joy.
Funeral services were held at noon Tuesday, September 8, 2015, in the Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. William Bowyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Gracie is survived by a daughter, Alice Faye Macon Adams and husband, Jack; sister, Zelma Pearson Kinton; brothers, William Herman Pearson and Jessie Vernon Pearson (Frances); three grandsons, Michael G. Adams and wife, Traci, Gregory Madison Adams and James Clay Macon; three great-grandchildren, Emily Ruth Macon, Lauren Grace Macon and Parker Macon; many nieces, nephews; extended family; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Macon Sr.; son, James (Jimmy) Macon Jr.; sisters, Elbertie Brown and Ruby Lee O’Neal; and brother, John William Pearson Jr.
Pallbearers were Michael Pearson, Brian Lowery, Steve Lowery Jr., Dan Jennings, Phil Leonard, and Benjamin Moody.
