A number of Gazette readers were quick to point out last week that – yes, indeedy – there is already a Wendy’s in Wake Forest. It is on Capital Boulevard just south of the Wake Forest Crossing shopping center.

Capital Plaza on Retail Drive, home to PetSmart, Staples and smaller stores, has been sold again, the third sale in three years. The new owner is G&I VIII Capital Plaza LLC in Atlanta, part of RCG Ventures LLC. The sale price was $7,450,000 as reported by the Wake County Revenue Division website. The tax value for the buildings and 14.48 acres on the website is $8,866,251. The shopping center was built by Wake Forest Granite LLC in 2000. Target, Home Depot and other businesses are owned separately.

Fully four-fifths of North Carolina is suffering from lack of rain, according to this week’s update from the North Carolina Division of Water Resources . Abnormally dry conditions continue in Wake County and are creeping toward the coast each week. There is mild drought across Johnston and Nash counties.
