Carolyn Britt Pulley

Wake Forest

Carolyn Britt Pulley, 44, of Wake Forest died Friday morning, May 22, 2015, at Rex Hospital. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Henry William Britt and Doris Ellington Britt. Carolyn was a graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School, a member of Beulah Christian Baptist Church, and was a customer service representative for Thompson Gas Company.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, May 25, 2015, at Beulah Christian Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Sneed officiating. Entombment was in the Williams Family Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, David Pulley; brother, Ricky Mustian and wife, Joanna, of Wendell; step-daughter, Amanda Penland and husband, Jerrod, of Hillsborough; grandchildren, Payton and Sawyer Penland of Hillsborough; aunt, Alice Ellington of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Frances Barnes and husband, Harold, of Wake Forest; special friends, Leian Hearne of Raleigh and T.J. Hedrick of Wake Forest; and her beloved canine companion, Harley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607.

Pallbearers were T.J. Hedrick, Anthony Hicks, Chris Pearce, Bill Hearne, Michael Hughes, and Elliott Harrell. Honorary pallbearers were Pete Davis, Leroy Pearce, and Carlyle Woodlief.

Lester Holman

Wake Forest

Lester Holman, 94, of Wake Forest passed away Wednesday evening, May 20, 2015, at his home. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Sarah Holman. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and served during WW II. He was awarded France’s highest honor, the French Legion Medal of Honor.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday, May 23, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in the Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Holman is survived by his nieces, Marcia Zwilling of Austin, Texas, and Linda Hyde of Thornton, Texas; nephew, Irving Zwilling of Raleigh; a grand-niece, Gabriel Zwilling; grand-nephews, Gregg Zwilling, Chris Zwilling and Andre Zwilling; and special friends, John Thomsen of Youngsville and Doris Robinson of Wake Forest. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Ruth Zwilling.

Charles William ‘Charlie’ Jones

Youngsville

Charles William “Charlie” Jones, 64, of Youngsville passed away Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2015, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late James Everette Jones and Lucy Freeman Jones. Mr. Jones owned and operated the Youngsville Milling Company for many years and attended Wake Forest Baptist Church.

Charlie was a devoted husband and a wonderful father. He liked spending time outdoors, participating in hobbies such as golf and fishing.

A memorial service was held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, May 27, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Winston Jones; daughter, Jennifer Ballard and husband, Kyle, of Greensboro; sister, Patsy J. Cash and husband, Rich, of Louisburg; niece, LuAnne Cash Cooper of Raleigh; nephew, Richard Cash III of Louisburg; and a grandchild that is due to arrive in September.

Edward Paul Jaber

Wake Forest

Edward Paul Jaber, 95, of Wake Forest passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2015, at WakeMed. He was born in Raleigh, the son of the late Antone Jaber and Hannah Simmon Jaber, and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during WW II.

Mr. Jaber enjoyed playing football, baseball, golf and tennis as a young man. He helped establish the Kerr Drug chain in the fifties and after retiring from Kerr Drug, he and his wife started Country Heritage Nursery where they sold a full range of wholesale and retail gardening plants. Mr. Jaber had a love for growing azalea’s and gardening, but one of his favorite hobbies was playing chess with Christopher. He was a loving husband, father and a friend to many, who always went out of his way to help anyone he could.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 o’clock, Friday, May 22, 2015, at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Burial was in Historic Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Jaber is survived by his wife of 34 years, Becky Jaber; adopted son, Chris Kendall of the home; stepson, Chris Kendall and wife, Debbie, of Wake Forest; brother, Tony Jaber of Many, Louisiana; special friends, Jose Hernandez and Marie Gomez and their son, Brian, of Zebulon and Pauline Bank of Raleigh who thought of Mr. Jaber as a father.

Mabel Mae Currin Edwards

Wake Forest

Mabel Mae Currin Edwards, 94, of Wake Forest died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday evening, May 19, 2015. Mrs. Edwards was born in Vance County, the daughter of the late Maude West Currin and William Andrew Currin,, and was married to Ben Edwards who preceded her in death. She was retired from the textile industry.

Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon, May 22, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating. Burial was in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her son, Morris Edwards of Wake Forest; a sister, Frances Faulkner of Chesapeake Virginia; a brother, W.A. Currin of Henderson; grandchildren, Amy Tawes and husband, Kent, of Raleigh, Audrey Swarts and husband, Pete, of Dansville, New York, Benji Edwards and wife, Crystal, of Wake Forest, and Anitra Carter and husband, David, of Zebulon; and nine great-grandchildren.

Karen Louise McKissick

Karen Louise McKissick, born August 7, 1951, the daughter of Alfred J. and Catherine Johnson, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 63.

A private service will be held at a later time.

Karen was a determined, loving and devoted mother to Garry McKissick Jr. and Denise Kent and loving “grammie” to Creighton Kent, Annie, Emalea, and Tess McKissick. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Bob) Hollingsworth; nephew, Robert Hollingsworth; and her aunt, Teresa (John) Dove.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceeded in death by her niece, Lisa Hollingsworth.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Wake County Animal Shelter or local chapter of NAMI.
