The park and the pool at the corner of South Main Street and West Owen Avenue are named for Dr. Solomon Holidng and his wife, Eva, who lived in a large house on the land. After their deaths, their son donated the land to the town. Dr. Holding was a town commissioner from 1925 to 1927 when he was elected to a two-year term as mayor.
