Wake Electric has awarded college scholarships to 17 young people in its service area for a total of $22,000.
The top scholarship of $2,000, the Fred M. Alford Memorial Scholarship, went to Morgan Darrow who attends Wakefield High School.
Touchstone Energy Scholarships of $1,250 each were awarded to the following young people:

- Emily Berrier of North Raleigh Christian Academy
- Taylor Rossman of Wake Forest High School

- Matthew Watts of Wake Forest High School
- Abigail Richter of South Granville
- Erin Lemin of Wake Forest High School
- Taryn Hoffman of Franklinton High School
- Robert Richter of Enloe High
- Robert Mishler of Middle College High School
- Brittaney Dahle of Methodist University
- Jovanhy Trejo of Granville Central High School
- Miranda Brauns of NC State University
